THE FLOATING ISLANDS OF ZACATÓN

In north eastern Mexico you will find the perfectly circular sinkhole, considered by many to be the deepest water-filled sinkhole in the world and while this is  impressive by itself, the sinkhole's most amazing feature is not under the surface, but rather floating happily above it.

Fifteen free-floating and completely natural islands made of zacate grass and shrubs, lazily propelled by the gentle winds.

Visitors to Zacatón frequently enjoy sunbathing and having picnics on this strange formations.
