Daniel and Tevyn East were driving from Colorado to California when, at the Utah-Nevada border, their car hit a coyote. Assuming that the animal had been killed in the collision, they continued driving other eight hours before they discovered the coyote's body was lodged in the bumper.
The couple tried to remove it and that is when they discovered that the animal they thought was dead was actually still alive and had traveled hundreds of miles in the bumper of their car!
Amazingly, the coyote was unhurt if you don't count a couple of bruises and scratches. The animal was taken by a wildlife volunteer who took it away in a kennel but the coyote who had cheated death and hitched a ride wasn't finished surprising everyone and escaped its cage. We can only assume that this hitchhiking hound is exploring the new frontiers of California's wild side.
