When Dede cut his knee during an accident as a teenager, he never would have dreamed that the seemingly inconsequential incident would turn him into a medical mystery. Soon, root-like structures began to grow out of the wound, his hands, and feet until it became impossible for him to perform simple household tasks.
It is believed that Dede suffers from the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a fairly common condition that causes warts to grow. in Dede's case, however, he has a rare genetic disorder that impedes his immune system, meaning that his body cannot contain the warts.
The HPV virus has since hijacked his skin cells, causing them to grow the tree-like growths on his body.
It is hoped that with a daily regiment of vitamin A, Dede's condition will reverse and he will gain the use of his hands again.
