THE KOPP-ETCHELLS EFFECT

First coined by photographer Michael Yon who took these photos, the Kopp-Etchells Effect occurs when the spinning rotary blade of a helicopter comes in contact with a cloud of dust during takeoffs or landings.  The resulting static charge creates an amazing halo around the craft.
