The Entity

These photos were taken in Culver City, CA during the 1974 "Entity" investigation when the victim of a brutal haunting challenged the spirit to show itself. In part because the arc of light above the woman on the bed (who was the target of the poltergeist or incubus depending on which account you read) does not conform to the angle of the wall and the smaller arc on the left is in front of the investigator's head, this was the first and only image ever published in Popular Photography as an authentic ghost photo.  The events of this haunting were later adapted into a motion picture.
