Eddie Murphy brings back the big and lovable protagonist of The Nutty Professor, Sherman Klump in this sequel featuring Sherman's family more prominently than the first movie.  For me, that's a good thing 'cause the scenes with the Klumps at the dinner table were The Nutty Professor's coup de grace... or should I say, coup de gravy?

In this sequel, Sherman has found true love in Denise Gains (played rather surprisingly well by Janet Jackson), but his alter ego, Buddy Love, isn't as dead as we all thought, popping up like Torette's syndrome, causing Sherman to spout off rude and crude comments, and ruining the poor professor's chances at a love life.

Like the first Nutty Professor, it's what's inside that counts.  Of course, flammable farts and a humongous horny hamster are nice to have in the movie too.

So, Sherman decides to rid himself of Buddy Love once and for all.  Unfortunately, the plan backfires, Buddy is reborn in an independent body and takes it upon himself to steal Sherman and Denise's valuable youth formula for himself.  Problem with that is, he's going to have to steal it from the Klump house and that ain't gonna be no easy win.

If you're one of the many critics who get off on accentuating the negative, you could point out the scattered plot, the poo poo humor, and the politically incorrect fat jokes that litter the entire script.  Personally, I think that if you look past all that, you'll see a sweet story about being yourself and trusting those you love to accept you for what you are.  Like the first Nutty Professor, it's what's inside that counts.  Of course, flammable farts and a humongous horny hamster are nice to have in the movie too.

Looking deeper, The Nutty Professor II is nothing short of a technical marvel as Eddie Murphy plays six different characters and gives each of them a separate personality.  It's something few actors can top and it's way the hell past time he was recognized for it.  Give him an Oscar, dammit!!!
