Long before the annoying trends of metrosexuality and women's rights came along, men's magazines were celebrations of chest hair and balls, filled with pulp fiction of war, survival, and outstanding manliness.

As Penthouse and Playboy appeared on the scenes, the old men's magazines became less and less popular and all but disappeared by the 70's.

Looking at these old covers, you can tell that they were... well, insanely macho.
